Advanced Plumbing Systems Design
The ADVANCED PLUMBING SYSTEMS DESIGN CERTIFICATE is to train professionals who would like to receive formal education in advanced topics in Plumbing Systems Design or are currently practicing in the field and would like additional training in advanced design techniques for commercial and industrial structures. The program collaborates with the American Society of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE). It is the first comprehensive program in plumbing systems in the United States. The certificate consists of 7 courses, totaling 28-units including six required courses and at least one elective course.

The ASTRONAUTICAL ENGINEERING CERTIFICATE is a 28-unit program that provides a broad overview of the key aspects of spacecraft vehicle design and engineering. Topics include systems design, structural considerations, propulsion, orbital mechanics, attitude, dynamics, control, communication systems, electrical power, and thermal management.
The BIOTECHNOLOGY ENGINEERING CERTIFICATE provides the knowledge you need to be in-demand in the expanding fields of Biotechnology Engineering. Gain knowledge in Biotechnology fundamentals & manufacturing techniques and know-how. Learn European and FDA regulatory approval requirements and quality engineering. The COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEMS CERTIFICATE is 5 required course (20-units) program that introduces engineers and other technically-oriented individuals to the fundamentals of communications systems and some of their most common current applications.

Integrated Circuit Design
The INTEGRATED CIRCUIT DESIGN SPECIALIZATION provideS a broad overview of design and analysis of analog Integrated Circuits (IC) including CMOS RF ICs used in wireless communication systems and the DA-A/D converters. The sequential program is comprised of four required courses (16 units).
The SUSTAINABILITY CERTIFICATE is a 20-unit program that provides an understanding of sustainability issues and the social, regulatory, business, and technological challenges on both the national and international level. Supported by an advisory board of industry experts, the multidisciplinary curriculum explores sustainability issues and solutions across the often interrelated fields of architecture, design, business, education, engineering, landscape architecture, law, marketing, public policy, real estate, science, technology, and urban planning. The program examines major elements that impact the environment on a daily basis, such as the use of water, air, land, energy, and transportation.

The MEDICAL DEVICE ENGINEERING CERTIFICATE provides the core knowledge and fundamental skills required for those involved and or entering the field of medical devices design, manufacturing, quality control, biomaterials, biocompatibility, and European and U.S. FDA regulatory approvals. This certificate is good for new graduates in medical device engineering, professionals seeking advancement in their position or to upgrade skills, managers and leaders of technical teams in medical devices, team members who want to understand the scope of their projects, and suppliers to the medical device industry.
Recycling and Solid Waste Management
The RECYCLING AND SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT CERTIFICATE is a 24-unit program designed for a wide variety of individuals seeking to know the state-of-the-art in recycling and waste management, including industrial managers and engineers, government staff, disposal firm employees, community representatives, public sector employees, and public policy analysts. The program addresses environmental, technological, political, legal, and economic aspects of recycling and waste management policies.
Continuing Education for Registered Environmental Health Specialists (REHS)
UCLA Extension’s Department of Engineering and Technology is authorized by the California Department of Public Health to operate as an Accreditation Agency for continuing education courses for Registered Environmental Health Specialists (REHS). Each of the core courses in this certificate program provides 36 hours of continuing education credit.

The Systems Engineering Specialization provides solid understanding of key principles of systems engineering including requirements analysis, architecture and design, modeling, integration, risk management, verification and validation. The program provides life cycle models that can be used to describe the evolution of a system from concept through disposal, the management of the engineering and other disciplines involved to bring a system into being, the system design and analysis process, and finally the importance of operational feasibility analysis as a necessary element during the design process.
